Welcome to our Practice

Thank you!

Thank you for choosing our office for all your dental needs. We have created a comfortable environment here in Thomasville where you can feel confident in the level of dental care you receive.

What to expect at your first visit

During our new patients first visit, our objective is to get to know you better, to become familiar with your past dental experiences and to establish your dental records with our office. When you arrive for your first visit, please be prepared to complete all insurance and health information forms. Once you have completed your patient forms we will take a Panoramic X-ray as well as Bitewing X-rays to ensure a thorough exam by Dr. Darr at your next visit.

Also, please assist us by providing the following information:

  • Any bitewing X-rays taken within the past six months or any panoramic x-ray taken within the past 3 years.
  • If you have dental insurance, please bring your insurance card. This will enable us to give you an estimate of your costs.

New Patient Cleaning and Exam

Your initial exam and cleaning will last approximately one hour. Dr. Darr will perform a thorough exam and Tonda will also clean your teeth. Generally, X-rays will have been taken at your records appointment, allowing Dr. Darr to further examine your mouth for tooth decay, periodontal problems, jaw problems and any signs of oral cancer. These diagnostic records will help Dr. Darr provide an evaluation outlining any existing dental problems and proposed treatment. We encourage you to ask questions. We’ll be glad to discuss any and all concerns our new patients may have.

Open Communication

We believe that good dental care begins with open communication. We promise to speak candidly with you about our diagnosis and recommendations, any alternative treatments, and any symptoms present that may require treatment from a specialist. Working together, we can achieve a true partnership, with one common goal – keeping your smile beautiful and your teeth, gums and jaw joints healthy!

- Ya'll are wonderful! :)- Great work today. As big of a chicken as I am about going to the dentist the experience was great. There was hardly any discomfort before or afterwards. I'm extremely satisfied. Thank you!

- Thanks for the years of great work. Never thought my teeth would feel or look this good after I had neglected them in the past.

- I always hated going to the dentist until I started going to Dr. Darr. I really love my dentist!

-Great staff! They are friendly, personable, and more than professional. I've had quite a bit of dental work done over the years and my experience with Dr. Darr has been more than pleasant. Their attention to making their patients comfortable is a nice touch. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The technology they use to properly diagnose a course of action has saved me quite a bit of money. I highly recommend them!

-Dr. Darr and her staff are amazing. I have always hated going to the dentist due to a bad experience as a child from an old dentist. Pam and the staff know this and makes my appointments great and relaxing. I don't think the negative comments are true. You may have had a bad experience there but she has been a blessing to me. Thanks to Dr. Darr and her staff. Also you must try the dental spa. There is no additional cost but you have to request it.  It's a very relaxing time instead of being all tensed up. I'm glad I found this amazing team!

-My children and I have been seeing Dr. Darr for many years. She had high standards and takes pride in her work. Her staff has always been professional and personable. I LOVE the Oraspa treatments with my cleanings. I highly recommend this dentist and her staff!

-I lived in Thomasville from 1977 until May 2017 and a few years ago I had the good fortune to discover this dental practice. I was talking to a friend about how I hated going to the dentist and how nobody really likes their dentist, when she told me that she really liked hers.

I scheduled an appointment and was sold on their practice. Dr. Darr and her staff put the patient's dental health as their #1 priority. I have nothing but good things to say about the practice. I have always been treated with respect and courtesy. I hated going to the dentist, even having my teeth cleaned, but with Dr. Darr's office, I felt comfortable. Even more advanced procedures were more pleasant at this office. She makes the crowns in the office while you wait so that when you leave it is with your permanent crown. They call after procedures to make sure you are feeling ok and patients are encouraged to call immediately if there is any discomfort. There have been times after fillings or crowns that the bite needed to be adjusted and I was worked in to the schedule immediately.

With the addition of the Ora-Spa procedures, my teeth cleaning experience was nothing short of amazing. A face/head massage, warm heated mitts for your hands, low lights, soft music....and a teeth cleaning, all for the same price as a regular visit. What is not to love?

Q. How often should I see a dentist?

A. The American Dental Association (ADA) guidelines recommend visiting a dentist at least twice a year for a check-up and professional cleaning. Our office also recommends a minimum of two visits per year.

Q. What should I expect during my appointment?

A. One of our staff members will compile your medical and dental history during your first visit. We will then examine your teeth and gums, screen you for oral cancer, make X-rays of your teeth as needed and complete a TMJ (temporomandibular or jaw joint) exam. After we review your dental profile, we will discuss a diagnosis with you. If treatment such as a root canal (endodontics), braces (orthodontics) or oral surgery is needed, we will plan to treat you in our office or refer you to a specialist. We will discuss your options for treatment and fee payment and help you determine the best plan to fit your needs.During regular follow-up visits, we will examine your teeth and gums, screen you for oral cancer, clean your teeth and make plans for treatment, as needed. We will discuss any pain or problems you may be experiencing and answer any questions you may have.

Q. What does "painless dentistry mean?

A. Painless dentistry is a means of ensuring your total experience in our office is as stress-free and pain-free as possible. We will discuss treatment options that may require no local anesthetic and whenever possible, alleviate pain by the means most comfortable to you.

Q. What if I have an emergency?

A. Please call our office as soon as you determine that you have a dental emergency. We will be glad to work you in to our schedule if you have a dental emergency during regular business hours.

Q. Are payment plans available for my dental treatment?

A. Yes. We accept many types of dental insurance and will process your claim for you upon receipt of your co-payment. We also accept most major credit cards.

Q. Can the dentist whiten my teeth?

A. There are several methods available for bleaching the teeth: in-office, overnight or daily. One session of in-office bleaching generally lasts one and a half to two hours, and you can read or relax during the treatment. For overnight bleaching, we make an impression of your teeth and create a mouthguard that fits your bite. Each day you fill the mouthguard with a small amount of bleaching gel and wear it overnight or for a few hours during the day. The overnight bleaching process takes approximately two weeks.Other over-the-counter daily bleaching products are available, but it is important to use any bleaching product only under the supervision of a dentist. To achieve the whitening results you desire, the ADA recommends that you seek the professional advice of a dentist, including examination and diagnosis of the cause of tooth discoloration, before you begin any bleaching program.

Q. What if I have a gap in my teeth, a chipped tooth, or teeth that do not respond to normal bleaching methods?

A. We have many different procedures that can help these problems. Porcelain veneers are designed to look like your natural teeth and are individually attached to the fronts of your existing teeth. Veneers can be positioned to close gaps. Bonding utilizes a composite material made of plastic to fill in areas of your teeth and correct chipping and shape problems. Both porcelain veneers and bonding are color-matched to the rest of your teeth.
